London Digestive Clinic

Art Contact was selected to source and supply artwork for the new London Digestive Clinic in Welbeck Street. Working with the Designers a series of images were selected to complement the ’boutique’ theme of the clinic.

In keeping with the overall design the images were printed onto acrylic panels and installed with stainless steel stand-off panel fixings.

As well as the artwork Art Contact was also requested to source and supply accessories for the clinic including ceiling lamp shades, ceramics, coffee table books, clocks, magazines and vases with floral arrangements for all 5 floors. The accessories completed the boutique theme through out the clinic.

Charles Russell Speechley

Main Brief: Review existing artwork and arrange for relocation to new offices. Review existing framing, asses and restoration requirements to the artwork, consolidate artwork from both venues to be re-house on the refurbished site. Pack and move artwork, transportation and installation.

Sculpture Brief: Commission wall sculpture for the main reception required to suit the general design of the space with special attention to the available fixing points within the wall.

Art Contact was already familiar with Charles Russell Speechly’s existing art collection as we had purchased all the artwork for Speechly Bircham and following their amalgamation with Charles Russell,

Art Contact was invited to oversee and manage the relocation programme for the artwork.

In advance of the move Art Contact pre-arranged the new artwork layout for each floor onto a plan, which was presented to the client for approval. Art Contact over saw and managed the packing and labelling of the artwork, prior to moving the existing artwork to the new site. Existing artwork form Charles Russell collection, where reviewed and re-framed to complement, those from Speechly Bircham. In addition, a site specific wall sculpture by Phillip Melling was commissioned in a recess by the main reception area.

Jayroma

Jayroma, a well-established fashion company, asked Art Contact to source and frame vintage black and white fashion photography for their office reception in Tottenham Court Road. They wanted to avoid artwork that is widely reproduced and for the focus of the photographs to be on the models and what they were wearing.

To really utilise the space, instead of only using large photographs we created a montage of smaller images that exhibit the elegant and chic styles of the 1950s. The clean-cut black and white photographs, mounts and frames created the sophisticated look that Jayroma wanted to portray and gives a professional first impression to all who enter the office.

Regent Street Management – Venture House

Regent Street Management Direct required artwork for the reception area at Venture House that would make a strong impression to clients and staff alike. These large bold abstract paintings are visually striking without being intrusive on the space which echoes the company’s approach to their operations.

Framed in stained-black ash, this project is a prime example of how keeping framing simple creates no distractions from the artworks themselves.

This combined with the curvature of the wall and the locations of the artworks in relation to the lighting created an enticing outcome.

As we have our own in-house framing team, we are able to find tailored solutions to our clients’ framing requirements. Subsequently, we oversee projects through from conceptualisations to installation without the need to out-source meaning that we are in control of delivering outcomes that will meet, if not surpass, our clients’ expectations.

Association of British Insurers

Following on from our previous work on their stained glass panels, when the Association of British Insurers relocated to their new offices Art Contact was again asked to assist and to find a solution for the display of their collection of stained glass panels.

The solution that was decided upon was to lightly frame the panels and hang them together in front of a light box. The resulting display is very effective and has been extremely well received.

As well as working with the stained glass panels we were also asked to conserve and re-frame some of their extremely old documents including one of the oldest insurance policies in existence. This framing was carried out to full conservation standards and should protect these items from the London atmosphere for years to come.

Portland Hospital – The Day Care Unit – Rooms

Art Contact began the new year, in continued collaboration with Portland Hospital, as they continue with developments within the hospital. Art Contact were selected to commission a series of bespoke artworks for the Day Case Unit, more specifically for the bedrooms allocated to young people. With that in mind, Art Contact looked a developing the distinctive style established within the hospital and adapting it to this new location.

During the collaboration Portland Hospital outlined an interest in music, and the positive healing qualities it can have, especially in young people. Art Contact developed this idea and commissioned a digital artist to produce a series of images which depicted children playing and interacting with instruments or dancing to music. In line with the exciting art collection within the hospital, the artworks were printed onto high quality, easy to maintain acrylic panels and the artist contextualized the artworks, to include London landmarks.

This is in keeping with the design and development of the rest of the artwork throughout the hospital, which was sourced by Art Contact at the early stages of refurbishment.

Portland Hospital – Paediatrics

Art Contact was keen to continue the theme of ‘children and families at play’ from previous areas of the hospital and so collaborated with a digital artist to produce vibrant, eye-catching acrylic panels which depicted children playing in a park environment. With London landmarks contextualizing the images, Art Contact was keen to portray a positivity in subject matter whilst also celebrating the location of the hospital, within iconic buildings across our capital.

The Where’s Wally wallpaper, which had been so popular in a previous ward, has also been adapted to work on panels, again to encourage continuity between wards. Art Contact was keen to create a familiar environment for returning patients and visitors and the Where’s Wally style images have become a focal point of the hospital interior.

Through all stages of development, Art Contact worked closely with the Portland Hospital clinical team in choosing the perfect images for all to enjoy.
