Public Art is a powerful tool in the planning, design and management of open spaces in both urban and rural environments. The right artwork in the right setting can contribute to a real sense of geographical identity and community, drawing people towards a place and creating a feeling of civic pride.

At Art Contact we work with developers and local authorities on both new developments and regeneration projects to:

• Develop art strategies which reflect and reinforce the identity of a place.
• Manage and monitor associated art programmes.
• Ensure that work is completed on time and on budget whilst meeting all technical and aesthetic requirements.

Art strategies can be extended to include furnishings and key design details such as gates, fencing, water features, seating and signage.

In order to produce a coherent strategy it is important to understand any opportunities presented by the space as well as any overall objectives you may have. Equally important are any communication goals you may have and as always any financial constraints that may apply.

From this information we would work with you to develop a fully actionable Art Strategy detailing our proposals and to enable us to then source, select and supply suitable artworks.

When required we are able to assist you with the inclusion of Public Art at the planning stage of a development or indeed with the fulfilment of a Section 106 Public Art requirement and will ensure that the art we commission on your behalf will deliver the goals identified in the strategy and add real value to the development.

As well as this we are able to assist with the application for planning consent for artworks if required.

Integration of your development into the community can be greatly assisted by both public consultation and also the establishment of a community arts programme producing artworks that are both local and relevant.

We fully understand how public consultation can assist to obtain valuable feedback on you project through the use of workshops, interviews and exhibitions to promote a positive outcome to your project or development.

We will work with you to source and select the most appropriate art for your situation, location and budget.

Through our extensive and constantly updated database of artists and their artworks we are well placed to guide you through the selection process.

We are well used to working from plans and through the use of our purpose built database and presentation software can produce proposals customised to your requirements.
