Great Martins

Private Residence, Sculpture Collection

Art Contact was engaged by Estate Manager, Tom Bream, to maintain and manage the sculpture collection at Great Martins. Our work involves annual inspection and cleaning, as well as restoration and conservation as required to preserve the collection’s integrity, condition, and visual impact.

Alongside maintenance, we have also commissioned new works to enhance and expand the collection. These include an Armillary Sphere by Border Sundials and a Panoramic Thames Map – From Great Martins to the Sea by Ewan Eason. Both pieces were selected to complement the existing sculptures and to add contemporary relevance to the historic setting.

This ongoing programme ensures that the Great Martins collection remains visually engaging, historically preserved, and carefully curated, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic expression to reflect the estate’s evolving legacy.

Private Client – Bathroom Picture

We were approached by our client to supply a bathroom picture for her Chelsea home. See our Purchasing Services.

Bathrooms have always caused significant problems for displaying artworks and above a bath is the most difficult. The steam rising from the bath causes particular issues with moisture.

A photograph was chosen which was printed directly onto Di-bond to mitigate the moisture issues.

The image chosen for the bathroom picture was ideal for this. By printing directly onto the di-bond some of the metallic surface was allowed to show through which work particularly well with this image.

The printed panel was then floated into a simple wooden tray frame stained to echo other items in the room.

Private Client – Sanchez Restoration

Painting restoration required to painting damaged by the rolling up of the painting that had been removed from its stretcher.

This artwork had been purchased by our client. For easy transportation and the painting had been removed from the stretcher and rolled up. This had resulted in extensive cracking and significant losses due to the rolling of the canvas and the lack of tension.

Art Contact was asked to arrange the restoration of the damaged painting and to supply a new stretcher and tray frame.

The painting was carefully packed for transportation, fixed to a new stretcher and re-touched. Once completed the painting was fixed into its new tray frame and the artwork returned to our client.

The painting was then installed by the client.

Regent Street Management – Venture House

Regent Street Management Direct required artwork for the reception area at Venture House that would make a strong impression to clients and staff alike. These large bold abstract paintings are visually striking without being intrusive on the space which echoes the company’s approach to their operations.

Framed in stained-black ash, this project is a prime example of how keeping framing simple creates no distractions from the artworks themselves.

This combined with the curvature of the wall and the locations of the artworks in relation to the lighting created an enticing outcome.

As we have our own in-house framing team, we are able to find tailored solutions to our clients’ framing requirements. Subsequently, we oversee projects through from conceptualisations to installation without the need to out-source meaning that we are in control of delivering outcomes that will meet, if not surpass, our clients’ expectations.

‘Inosculation’ – Private Commission

The client gave Art Contact a brief for an installation based around an organic and natural form that appeared to be growing across the wall.

Following a selection process, the artist chosen fabricated a striking, yet delicately crafted concrete sculpture in red, earthy tones to compliment stone wall behind.

The artists expert manipulation of the material not only produced a hugely accomplished final installation, but also reflected the interests of the client, who works within a family construction business.

The sculpture was very well received by the client and will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Private Client: Sumo’s

Sale of Sculptures by Pierre Diamantopoulo to a Private Residence

In preparation for ‘Chiri-chozu,’ the Sumo has been captured in a snapshot moment before his hands collide to initiate the fight. In this moment, the braiding on his ‘Mawashi’ are flung into the air as he squats into position, and his expression captures a calm and steady composure before the fight begins.

Once ‘Shiko’ has taken place, the fight can begin. Captured in bronze the opposing Sumo is in a position of balance and strength. The sculptor masterfully bends the rules of physics and gives a playful nod to gravity, as the Sumo’s body weight is thrown across to the side. The attention to muscular detail both on and below the surface of the sculpture demonstrate the sculptor’s masterful grasp of his medium.
