IVF Clinic – Boston Place

Art Contact developed an art program which incorporated a diverse range of original artwork to complement the decoration and to support the work carried out in the clinic.  A diptych was commissioned for a wall recess within the main communal waiting area.

The other artworks, constructed from natural materials and pigment are wonderfully striking and tactile in their simplicity, evoking a wide range of inferences relative to the work of the clinic.

Further works included colourful prints and soft flora and fauna to encourage a relaxed, holistic environment.

Private Client: Sumo’s

Sale of Sculptures by Pierre Diamantopoulo to a Private Residence

In preparation for ‘Chiri-chozu,’ the Sumo has been captured in a snapshot moment before his hands collide to initiate the fight. In this moment, the braiding on his ‘Mawashi’ are flung into the air as he squats into position, and his expression captures a calm and steady composure before the fight begins.

Once ‘Shiko’ has taken place, the fight can begin. Captured in bronze the opposing Sumo is in a position of balance and strength. The sculptor masterfully bends the rules of physics and gives a playful nod to gravity, as the Sumo’s body weight is thrown across to the side. The attention to muscular detail both on and below the surface of the sculpture demonstrate the sculptor’s masterful grasp of his medium.

Metrix Enterprise Ltd

Metrix Enterprise invited Art Contact to source a collection of artwork for their first office in the London division. Our brief was to embrace the city; its culture, architecture and artists, through the artwork.

London Bridge Hospital – Wards

Following on from other projects in the hospital, Art Contact was asked to assist London Bridge Hospital to refresh the wards in the hospital with the use of framed photographs of local London views.

Keltbray Group Holdings

Brendan Kerr of Keltbray chose artworks which reflected the vibrancy and contemporary design of the head offices in Surrey. Some key pieces were chosen to represent the company’s prominent activity in the construction sector. This was loosely interpreted through artworks which employ building materials such as glass, stone and steel as their medium and construction ideas such as balance and illusion as their concept.

Art Contact commissioned a digitally manipulated image of photographs of London architecture which the artist then encased in a painted aluminium box frame with a dichoric glass opening.

When one walks past the artwork the light, which is refracted by the dichoric glass panels, presents an array of colours onto the image behind.

Gilead Science

Gilead Sciences is a bio-pharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercialises innovative therapeutics in areas of unmet medical need.

Art Contact was invited to work with the team to select artwork to support the corporate identity and to enhance the working environment. Over the years artworks were selected and commissioned for both the offices at Granta Park and for the European Headquarters at Stockley Park.

In the offices at Granta Park colourful artworks were selected to enhance the working environment and to support the companies ethos.

As the main office is based in America they where keen to depict views of London in their Stockley Park offices.
A series of photographs were commissioned depicting views of London. The resulting images were combined and manipulated resulting in series of photo montages which were printed in monochrome to suit the decor.

‘Trees’
The brief was to produce substantial artworks that would have considerable impact on the space at the same time as creating a tranquil atmosphere.
Images of trees were chosen to help create the calm and the use of non-reflective acrylic panels giving the impact that the space required.

Chelsea Diagnostics

The brief for this project was to bring the natural botanical world into this urban healthcare centre. To provide a holistic and therapeutic environment and to create a peaceful atmosphere for the patients.

Art Contact sourced images of flora and fauna from three established photographers to create the right blend of imigary for the space.

 

Digital image files were printed onto a specialist wipe clean board. This utilitarian board was appropriate within this health care environment to comply with rigorous hygiene standards.

The feed back from this project following the opening has been extremely favourable having satisfied the brief in creating an extremely peaceful environment for staff and patients alike.

Private Client – Garden Sculpture

This sculpture was commissioned for a Private Client who wished to surprise his wife for their wedding anniversary. The client requested an abstract figurative sculpture which had symbolic references to the anniversary. The two figures in the sculpture can be seen to be entwined in an embrace.

The sculpture ‘Accord’ by John Brown is made out Aluminium Resin and stands on a stone base on top of an oak plinth. The total height including the base is approximately 1340mm High.

Gardiner & Theobald LLP

Having met Kevin Arnold from G&T to view the new site for site specific artworks, our rational behind the new commission was to take into account the work that Gardiner & Theobald specialise in, so in a loose way, we chose works which reflected their business in construction and consultancy.

Two artists were commissioned to fulfil the brief, firstly Brazillian ceramic artist Valeria Nascimento who created a wall sculpture ‘Ordered Chance’ which was constructed from ceramic cubes to represent Gardiner & Theobald’s position both in the locality and also in the construction industry. Secondly, a wall panel was commissioned from the light artist Chris Wood.

Roche Diagnostics

A collection of contemporary art in which the subjects relate to nature, people and the area local to Burgess Hill.

The redeveloped building was decorated to a very high standard in a contemporary style, with attention to the smallest of details.

A brief was given to Art Contact to include ‘nature, people and the local area’ into the subject manner. These were included but not always in the most literal of senses, encouraging the staff and visitors to think about the works exhibited. Contemporary glassware was also commissioned including an illuminated plinth to light the glass works from beneath.

Our brief was to incorporate existing artwork into the company’s contemporary offices, as well as to provide further artwork to complement the existing collection for the client facing areas on the 9th and 10th floors at New Gate Square.

Bonelli Erede & Hengeler Mueller

A collection of art by artists from England, Italy and Germany was curated by Art Contact, for the German – Italian law firm’s offices in central London.

Our brief for this project was to use international artists, particularly from Germany and Italy.

 

We chose works which related loosely to law, such as books by Veronica Bailey. The international theme was brought in through works by Piere Imhof and Irma Irsara.

The contemporary artwork was selected to re-enforce both the corporate identity and to support the minimalist interior design of their new offices.

Advent Software

Advent Software invited Art Contact in to manage an art program which included commissioning fine art prints for the first floor sales office and a wall mural for the break out area; printing and framing corporate marketing material for the general offices and producing a large acrylic Advent Software brand map for the main Reception.

Art Contact worked closely with a large-format printing team to print both client supplied graphics and commissioned images for display in various ways.

On the curved wall in the breakout area a large street art painting was commissioned.

Crowne Plaza Hotel

Use of minimalist art and Perspex box framing add bright contemporary style to the new Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marlow.
Working closely with Design Coalition and the Hotel’s owner, Art Contact commissioned five artists to produce a series of paintings and works on paper.

 

All works were produced and installed within a tight deadline to be ready for the opening.

A very large painting by Ian Wilkinson was installed in the conference room. Other works include a series of 12 photographs by Anne Hardy and a bronze sculpture for the downstairs bar.

Land Securities – Landflex

Use of art at Land Securities flexible office developments in Fulham and Soho has helped create the right atmosphere for some important lettings.

Landflex is an innovative solution responding to the challenge of matching office accommodation to the requirements of dynamic business plans. By offering unparalleled degrees of choice, underpinned by complete price certainty and coupled with excellent service Landflex gives customers flexibility and control over all aspects of their office accommodation.

In Soho Square Art Contact’s challenge was to deliver a big-impact art work for the main internal atrium, nine meters in width, within a limited budget. Ian Wilkinson’s 30-piece pop art installation succeeds brilliantly.

At the Landflex flagship – the Empress State Building – Art Contact has provided a (flexible) rental of abstract art by Bert Irvin and Neil Canning, giving a focus of colour and energy in key public areas.

Lettings at Empress State since the art was installed include Transport For London and the Metropolitan Police.

Office of Government Commerce

A panel in 12mm stained glass by Graham Jones has been completed for OGC’s new offices.

OGC wanted a piece of modern glass for the Reception area of their new building. After a site meeting and specification briefing from the client, Graham Jones produced a total of 3 options in sketch form and a final choice of image was adapted from one of these. As part of the brief Graham was aware of the style of two large prints by Neil Canning chosen through Art Contact to hang in adjacent areas of the Reception and he incorporated approriately sympathetic colour and line into his glass designs. (The Canning prints’ Nile’ and ‘Thermal’ were the last available in now sold-out editions and have undoubtedly increased in value since installation.)

Because of computer printing technology, a small sketch can be faithfully and accurately reproduced up to the scale of the finished 12mm thick glass panel, which measures 1.2 x 2.3 m., so the client is accurately aware of how the finished piece will look. However, the artist himself works on the etched and coloured surface, thus giving the free and personal touch of the artist to the finished work. As examples; the white touches in the top left of the work were adjusted and toned down by Jones once the work had been hung, in reaction to seeing the work actually in situ. Several areas of beautiful surface texture emerged during the process of manufacture of the panel and were left incorporated in the design.
