Princess Grace Hospital – Reception and Corridors

Princess Grace Hospital requested that Art Contact commission a series of pictures for the reception and corridors on the ground floor of the Hospital. A selection of images were selected and commissioned and were printed onto clear acrylic.

This style of artwork has become very popular in hospital environments being very easy to maintain. The acrylic panels were then installed using stainless steel panel fixings.

Portland Hospital – 234 Great Portland Street

Art contact was asked to supply colourful, printed panels using London Zoo as as the theme for the reception and children playing as the theme for the other floor. These panels were also to echo the style established in other areas for children elsewhere in the hospital.

To continue the theme most of the panels were printed onto acrylic or Forex and installed using panel fixings. In this case some images were printed onto ‘White Roc’ for incorporation into the finished wall.

See the images below showing the interpretation of the required themes.

Portland Hospital – Shard Clinic

Another exciting project with the Portland Hospital this time at The Shard. The brief was to commission colourful artwork for their children’s ward that incorporated iconic London architecture and scenes. Our digital artist created artwork full of vitality that were printed onto both acrylic and forex panels and were attached using brushed steel stand-off bolts.

We continue to work in locations within the HCA group with the artist who creates these unique artworks as they can be adjusted to incorporate buildings and places of relevance to each hospital whilst maintaining a continuous and aesthetically engaging narrative throughout the group which can be translated to any workplace environment.

Portland Hospital

As part of our ongoing work with the Portland Hospital, Art Contact was asked to commission a series of themed artworks for the basement and for floors 1 and 3 @ 121 Great Portland Street, ensuring that the artwork on each floor had a different feel.

Continuing with the on-going theme throughout the hospital, these artworks were printed onto clear acrylic and installed with stainless steel panel fixings.

See a selection of images below including one of the panel fixing.

Portland Hospital

As part of the on-going refurbishment of the Hospital, Art Contact was asked to commission some strongly themed printed panels for the Audiology Department at the Portland Hospital. Due to the nature of the department a musical theme was selected.

The pictures were printed onto acrylic panels and installed using panel fixings, insuring the continuation of the theme developed through-out the rest of the hospital.

Portland Hospital – The Day Care Unit – Rooms

Art Contact began the new year, in continued collaboration with Portland Hospital, as they continue with developments within the hospital. Art Contact were selected to commission a series of bespoke artworks for the Day Case Unit, more specifically for the bedrooms allocated to young people. With that in mind, Art Contact looked a developing the distinctive style established within the hospital and adapting it to this new location.

During the collaboration Portland Hospital outlined an interest in music, and the positive healing qualities it can have, especially in young people. Art Contact developed this idea and commissioned a digital artist to produce a series of images which depicted children playing and interacting with instruments or dancing to music. In line with the exciting art collection within the hospital, the artworks were printed onto high quality, easy to maintain acrylic panels and the artist contextualized the artworks, to include London landmarks.

Portland Hospital – Paediatrics

Art Contact was keen to continue the theme of ‘children and families at play’ from previous areas of the hospital and so collaborated with a digital artist to produce vibrant, eye-catching acrylic panels which depicted children playing in a park environment. With London landmarks contextualizing the images, Art Contact was keen to portray a positivity in subject matter whilst also celebrating the location of the hospital, within iconic buildings across our capital.

The Where’s Wally wallpaper, which had been so popular in a previous ward, has also been adapted to work on panels, again to encourage continuity between wards. Art Contact was keen to create a familiar environment for returning patients and visitors and the Where’s Wally style images have become a focal point of the hospital interior.

Through all stages of development, Art Contact worked closely with the Portland Hospital clinical team in choosing the perfect images for all to enjoy.

IVF Clinic – Boston Place

Art Contact developed an art program which incorporated a diverse range of original artwork to complement the decoration and to support the work carried out in the clinic.  A diptych was commissioned for a wall recess within the main communal waiting area.

The other artworks, constructed from natural materials and pigment are wonderfully striking and tactile in their simplicity, evoking a wide range of inferences relative to the work of the clinic.

Further works included colourful prints and soft flora and fauna to encourage a relaxed, holistic environment.

London Bridge Hospital

The brief from the client was to create an interesting vision for patients and staff with no view but an empty grey space without natural light. Virginia Grub from Art Contact set about sourcing the right artist to create an artificial garden set in the atrium by using dichoric etched components to create what we know as ‘The Light Garden’.

The Light Garden was formed and created by using 62 dichroic acrylic sandblasted discs to create floral designs with 48 fins placed along the face of the building which reflects from the mirrored wall opposite. This created an explosion of colours when the natural sunlight streams into the atrium from the south facing windows, as the light passes through and reflects off the glass it is transformed and takes on a journey around the space with flashes of rainbow of colours.
