Commissioned at very short notice, Art Contact was appointed by Wiggin LLP to develop an integrated artwork scheme for the transitional space leading from the reception area. With just one week before the office was due to be occupied, the project demanded a considered design response alongside rapid procurement, coordination and installation.
Working closely with the interior architecture, the brief extended beyond artwork selection to the development of a bespoke display solution that respected the integrity of the newly completed space. The wall incorporated large acoustic panels, while the existing ceiling pattressing presented an opportunity to create an elegant, minimally invasive hanging system.
Art Contact proposed a discreet ceiling-mounted track, engineered to utilise the existing structural pattressing and avoid unnecessary fixings to the walls. Detailed installation drawings were produced to coordinate the system, with fine stainless steel hangers suspended just clear of the acoustic panels. This approach allowed the artworks to appear to float within the space, preserving the performance of the acoustic treatment while creating depth, rhythm and visual lightness.
Works by Martha Winter were carefully selected for their atmospheric quality and restrained palette. Suspended in front of the acoustic panels, the paintings introduce a quiet sense of movement and colour, softening the architectural language of the corridor and creating a refined visual transition from reception into the workplace.
The completed installation for Wiggin LLP demonstrates how thoughtful technical design and carefully curated contemporary art can work in harmony with architectural constraints, transforming a functional circulation space into a distinctive arrival experience.
