Artworks Restoration and Conservation Programme
Art Contact was engaged as an art consultancy with expertise in the commercial and practical aspects of art management to implement a comprehensive restoration and conservation programme for the artworks at the Livery Company during their extensive Hall refurbishment.
Working closely with the Head of Collection, we developed and coordinated a phased restoration plan for the Hall’s artworks. Drawing on our broad experience in fine art restoration across multiple media, we have ensured that each piece is carefully conserved in tandem with the wider refurbishment schedule, with specific areas addressed each year.
The first step was to conduct a full audit of the collection to assess the condition of each artwork, identify urgent conservation needs, and determine the scope of treatment required. Following this audit, a detailed report was produced outlining the recommended conservation approach and providing indicative budgets for each piece.
Each year, we collaborate with the Head of Collection to review progress and plan the next phase of the programme. This includes re-assessing conservation priorities, managing the handling and transportation of artworks, and coordinating restoration logistics to align with ongoing works at the Hall.
The project remains ongoing, with Art Contact continuing to oversee the careful preservation of the Hall’s entire collection, ensuring that every artwork is maintained to the highest standard and safeguarded for future generations.
