A commission of three large-scale paintings on canvas has recently been completed by William Crozier.

The brief was for powerful abstracted landscapes to make a bold statement in the context of the client’s traditional wood-panelled interior. Eventually William Crozier was commissioned to paint a series of five paintings, the largest 190cm x 250cm. All the tray-framing was water-gilded by Clare Kooy-Lister.

William Crozier was born in Glasgow in 1930 of Irish parents. He began travelling around Europe after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art and has continued to do so ever since. Predominantly a landscape painter, his paintings are recognisable for their vibrant, almost fauvist use of colour. He has exhibited extensively in Europe, Ireland, South America and the US and is represented in galleries world-wide. A retrospective of his work was held jointly by the RHA Gallagher Gallery and the Crawford Municipal Gallery in 1990 and was warmly welcomed by both the press and public. Crozier lives in West Cork.
