Ellipsis Prints

Ellipsis Prints was founded to address a structural imbalance: women and non-binary artists remain significantly underrepresented across galleries, collections and institutions. Rather than waiting for those structures to correct themselves, Ellipsis works directly with artists at pivotal stages in their careers, commissioning editioned works that extend and consolidate their practices.

Each project approaches print not as reproduction, but as translation. An edition becomes a site of focus: a shift in scale, circulation or material that allows an artist’s thinking to move differently. We work closely with each artist to develop editions that feel rigorous, intentional and aligned with their wider practice.

Ellipsis is both a commissioning platform and a quiet form of advocacy. By funding production, facilitating sales and building a considered collector community, we aim to create meaningful, sustained support—not just visibility, but momentum.

Kate Neave launched Ellipsis Prints as a way to take direct, practical action. As a curator and writer, I am continually inspired by the depth and ambition of work being made by women and non-binary artists. At the same time, the disparities in representation and opportunity remain stark. Progress is happening, but slowly, and unevenly. Ellipsis exists to contribute to that shift in a tangible way. Each edition is a small but deliberate intervention: a means of redistributing attention, resources and long-term support. Until equity within the art world is no longer aspirational but structural, projects like Ellipsis remain necessary.

All Ellipsis editions are limited edition Risograph prints produced in London. The Risograph — a stencil-based printing process developed in Japan in the 1980s — prints one colour layer at a time, creating distinctive tonal variation and texture. The process sits somewhere between screenprint and digital reproduction, combining precision with a visible, tactile quality. We work with a limited palette and high-quality natural white paper, allowing each artist’s work to translate thoughtfully into print. Each edition is limited to 100. Once an edition is placed, it will not be reproduced, protecting the integrity of the work and the long-term value of the edition.

    Jad Oakes

London-based Jad Oakes explores the possibilities of photography and the moving image for sculptural installations, prints and photogravures.

His works are presented as collections or bodies of work that are connected by their process, theme and technique. The main thread that ties these bodies of works together is a fascination with memory and time.

Since 2014 he has developed and nurtured an ongoing series of small scale silent looping film installations housed in wooden sculptures titled Vessels.

    Condensed Vessel Videos:

    Dreams of Somewhere Else
    Moonscape 50
    Memory Vessel

Using timbers of Oak, Walnut and Bog Oak these moving image sculptures seek to connect with the viewer by projecting them into an alternative space and time.

Of the Vessels series he notes a desire to “create intimate emotive sculptures, enticing contemplation and memory.”

Jad Oakes was awarded the Aesthetica Prize at the 2019 ING Discerning Eye Exhibition.

      Helen Lack

Helen Lack is a contemporary artist working in the UK and producing large format and statement art. She has a unique style which is energetic, individual and vibrant with an urban edge.

Her work has been described as having a richness of colours with a Pollock style, depicting the Abstract Expressionist movement. This has created a significant level of interest among galleries and collectors. As well as a healthy demand by companies requiring “office art”.

Helen paints by combining many layers and thick brushstrokes using mixed media and drip techniques. She conveys emotion in all her works, which is received by the viewer as intriguing and involving.

Her works are inspired by current events and environmental concerns. Her paintings showing passion and vibrancy as well as reflection and colour to her audience.

Helen Lack has displayed her collections in contemporary shows, collaborated with other artists and curated her own solo exhibitions. All have attracted media interest in the UK and Europe and have received much acclaim.

Her works have been exhibited in many prestigious galleries in London and New York, creating a truly international appeal. In addition, one prestigious gallery has asked for her works in Italy for very high-profile collectors.
