'‘My concerns are to do with light, colour and those emotions and memories triggered by visual responses. I work directly through drawing, often working on an image several times, doing several versions until it reflects back the initial vision that made me stop and draw. Often memory will add or change things.''

I wish to create paintings as objects of contemplation, reflecting the light, emotion, history and beauty of the landscape. Essentially, I am after a reality of the human mind and spirit which I regard as the function of abstraction in art.’'
