Abraham, Alexandra

Alexandra Abraham wants her work to speak for itself and to bring new life and meaning to forgotten, found and often seemingly mundane objects. Incorporating vintage buttons from her mother’s sewing basket, items from her father’s old coin box, her collection of sea glass, shells and pebbles picked up on her travels around the world, ceramic shards from ancient gardens in England and France together with Venetian glass smalti, she encrusts her paintings with glittering 23 carat gilded bands, squares and rectangles.

Alexandra studied woven textile design at Loughborough College of Art and Design and also makes jewellery.
